A psychosomatic disorder refers to a physical disease which is thought to be caused, or made worse, by emotional or mental factors. Mental factors that cause physical symptoms are also referred to as psychosomatic disorders. Some disorders stemming from psychosomatic disorders may include gastric and duodenal ulcers, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, anorexia, bulimia, asthma, hyperventilation syndrome, hypertension, tachycardia, migraine headaches, eczema, coronary heart disease, and allergies.
It is thought that psychosomatic disorders usually developed when a person’s disease fighting ability is weakened due to stress, grief or even severe anger.
